I love starting with a plain background so I have the freedom to design what inspires me.  It sounds odd but my inspiration for this apron was the &quot;Ballard Designs&quot; newest catalog cover.  The cover (which I will show in photos) is just beautiful....a creamy pale pink mixed with gold.  My pink thread is a bit darker than the pink on the cover but I liked it all the same.<br /><br />I&#39;ve been collecting vintage tablecloths, linens, crocheted lace and tatting for a while now and just love incorporating them into something new.  Here I have used a beautiful vintage lace piece and meticulously sewed it to a vintage kitchen linen, this piece is now the pocket of the apron.  The lace piece isn&#39;t crochet or knit but I am unfamiliar as to what type of lace it is...possibly is has been done on a loom.  Here is a close up photo so you can see the detail. <br /><br />Now this unfinished apron sits on my ironing board for a while....until I remember I have the most lovely,(machine embroidered) silk fabric in the tip top of my master bedroom closet...hoping it will be the perfect thing for the ruffle....and it is! (imho)<br /><br />I&#39;ve used a very interesting ruffling technique here, it what I like to call bunching.  It&#39;s a lot of fun and creates awesome detail.  <br /><br />I then hand stitched my handmade crocheted flowers randomly on top of the ruffle.  These flowers measure 2 1/4 inches.<br /><br />The ties wouldn&#39;t be complete without a little golden tulle bunched onto the very ends.  The ties measure approx. 35 inches long. I like to wrap the ties around the back and them tie them in the front.<br /><br />This charming apron is the tenth creation made from the gorgeous new  and vintage finds, and my crocheted flowers . The vintage pieces are in great condition.<br /><br />The colors here are shades of cream, beige, gold, pink.<br /><br />A wonderful gift for the gourmet cook in the family or for your entertaining.<br /><br />The apron measures approx. 20 inches (approx. because of the uneven hemline.) by 28 1/2 inches wide.
